Lately our schedule has been off the chain busy and we have not had a lot of time for friends. I feel like we are on the hamster wheel of life with work, school, sports and kids.
Friends are usually the first thing to take the back burner but I love my friends and love spending time with them. Spending time with my friends energizes me and fills my bucket. I’m certain I’m not the only one on the hamster wheel of life so I wanted to share five ways you can squeeze a bit of friend time in!
5 Ways To Make Time For Friends
1. Mom Date / Play Date at Slim Chickens
I love getting together with my friends once a month at Slim Chickens for a “Mom Play Date.” Restaurants like Slim Chickens have an awesome patio with corn hole boards so the kids can play while we chit chat and catch up. We love Slim Chickens because they have healthy options for us moms, but we know our kids will devour their chicken and waffles or chicken tenders dipped in ranch! They also have every dipping sauce under the sun and to die for mason jar desserts! We also pop in after sports games with other families for a quick bite.
Slim Chickens is also our main hang out because they have so many things we love. If you download their app you get a FREE chicken sandwich, you can order ahead which is a must with small kids and you earn rewards towards free food. They also have a student/teacher discount and kids eat free on Sundays.
2. Workout Together
Recently my best friend and I started meeting around lunch 2-3 days a week to workout together. We can lift weights or walk on the treadmill while catching up. It’s a win-win because we get our workouts in and catch up in an hour. Bikini bods and girlfriend time. It’s all about the multi-tasking!
3. Group Text
My friends and I are all on a group text. This is how we coordinate kids, plan trips and send each other memes about eating healthy all week and blowing it on the weekends! It’s about balance right?!?
4. Mani/Pedi Date
Another great way to make time for friends is to meet up during the day after you drop the kids off at school or use your lunch break from work to get a mani/pedi together. You both get to relax, catch up on life and leave with your nails looking amazing. If that’s not multi tasking, I don’t know what is!
5. Staycation
Twice a year all my best girlfriends and I plan a staycation. We usually pick a hotel within an hour or two of where we live so we aren’t spending our time traveling. Our only requirements are it must have a pool or spa. We love resort style hotels like the JW Marriott in San Antonio or The Woodlands Resort. We get custom styrofoam cups made off Etsy and spend a solid two days doing nothing that requires responsibility!
